As you read, underline important details.
After 2 or more paragraphs or after a short section, stop, go back, reread, and rethink. Write your thoughts and inferences in the margin.

To write noteworthy notes:

                                               i.     Write at least 1 sentence

                                             ii.     Include opinion

                                            iii.     Use specific language and precise words

                                            iv.     Explain why or how

                                             v.     Explain cause and effect

• as your read your independent reading book, apply what you have learned about notetaking and write noteworthy notes
