I. Pre-visit Lesson with Art Educator
An educator who will be one of the tour guides on the trip will conduct a lesson and go over museum etiquette.
Students will also be able to "read" 1 or 2 related works of art, observe details, develop conclusions about theme and purpose, and discuss their ideas in small and large groups. The educator will reinforce skills I have taught the class: analyzing main and central ideas, identifying the most important details that support these ideas, and synthesizing what is taught through writing.
II. Learning Targets for MOMA trip
Students will explore the theme of identity and social issues in 3-5 works of art, engage in collaborative discussions, and take notes to prepare for the blog post they will write.
III. Final Assessment/Homework:
MOMA Blog Post: After attending the museum on our class trip, create a blog post on 1 or more of the works of art you focused on during the tour. Include:
