Reading, interpreting, and performing poetry

1. Read the Sarah Kay poem on p. 10 of your packets. Annotate favorite lines and literary devices.

2. Share in small groups and as a class.

3. Watch Sarah Kay read "if i should have a daughter"



4. What did you notice about how she performed her poem? What strategies did she use?

5. Writing Activity: Write off your Heart Poem or another poem you love (see notes for guidelines). Finish and revise for homework.
