An introduction.
Welcome to the world of blogging! There are a few basic guidelines to make sure that this experience is one that helps you grow as a reader, writer and thinker:
1. Each month (except October), you are required to write three posts about your independent reading book and one post in response to a non-fiction article that you have read, so overall you will write 4 blog posts a month.
2. A blog post is due by Friday. That means I'll be checking Friday afternoon to see who posted in time. This counts as a homework grade.
3. Also, you will have to read and comment on at least 3 students' blog posts.
4. Generally, the purpose of your posts is to look deeply into the layers of meaning in your text and to find one FOCUS/MAIN IDEA to write about . That idea should be thought-provoking; it should be based on an inference, interpretation, and/or extension and not be just a summary.
5. Your post should be ORGANIZED. Have one main idea that you are exploring. Use purposeful paragraphs to elaborate on that idea.
6. Your post should be TEXT BASED and specific. Include relevant quotations and examples.
7. Even though you should be using CORRECT GRAMMAR (capitalize! no texting abbreviations!).
8. The blog posts should be a reflection of your own thoughts and feelings; they should also be written with your audience in mind - other students, teachers, parents, and other members of the MS 51 community.
