"A book, too, can be a star, 'explosive material, capable of stirring up fresh life endlessly,' a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe." - from Madeleine L'Engle's Newberry Medal Acceptance Speech

Reading Reflection

After you have received your reading response rubrics, reflect thoughtfully on your reading life, and answer these questions in your notebooks:

1. What are the best books you've read so far this year?

2. How do you need to improve as a reader? List reading goals such as read nonfiction or more challenging books, increase endurance by reading for 40 minutes a night, annotate while I read, etc.

3. What books are you going to read next?

4. For reading nonfiction, what topics would you like to read and learn about?

5. How are you going to improve the writing of your reading responses? List at least 3 areas you will improve and how you will improve them.
