Group Discussions on Coming of Age Books

    1. How does my life connect to my protagonist?
    2. What does this book teach me about how to live life? About what I should or should not do?
    3. What theme can I relate to?
    4. How does the character change throughout the book? What does he/she learn?
    5. How has the book influenced me or changed my philosophy on life?
    6. How does the protagonist's philosophies compare to my own?
    7. compare/contrast to another text
    8. What does the book teach me about coming of age?

    2. Character/protagonist:
    -how does he/she change and grow
    -what lessons does he/she learn
    -how does he/she move from ignorance to knowledge,immaturity to maturity, etc.
    -how do I connect to him/her?
    -how did he overcome obstacles?
    -what are her philosophies on life? do i agree/disagree? why?

    3. What theme/morals/lessons does the text teach me?
    4. How does text relate to the interview/monologue project you did?
    5. What are some important symbols in the text that relate to coming of age/growing up?
