Some of you are just copying and pasting existing material and including it as your own. THIS IS PLAGIARISM. There is no excuse for this behavior. Unfortunately, many people plagiarize and get away with it because it is difficult to catch every one who does this; however, most people do get caught, so this should not be a justification.
Plagiarizing is unethical because it is a form of stealing. Also, it is disrespectful, dishonest, lazy, and futile; there is nothing to gain when you plagiarize. In fact, so much is lost. For instance, so much of my time is lost in finding original sources, contacting parents, contacting the principal, and speaking to the perpetrators. Your grade and your brain also suffer a loss.
Students who plagiarize will get a 0 for the assignment; several cheating offenses will result in an N or U on the report card. As a result, your grade will drop and so will my esteem and trust for you. Other consequences:

- communication with parents
- possible failure of ELA
Similar offenses with similar consequences:
- allowing students to cheat off of you. Yes, if you allow someone to copy your vocabulary homework, you are being a bystander and enabler; you are just as guilty as the person copying your answers.
- having someone else, like your mother or tutor or other student, do your work.
- cheating on tests or copying other students' homework.
Be honest and have integrity in all that you do. The world is better off when people live life with these values.
