Research shows that repeated exposure to new words helps build and retain a bigger vocabulary. Instead of a test on Units 1-3, you will have to do a creative vocabulary project in which you create activities for another student to complete.
Your activities should include:
- all words from Unit 3
- at least 5 words from Unit 2
- at least 5 words from Unit 1
- choose from 1 or more of the following projects or create your own
Rubric/checklist:
- completes at least 2 different activities from the bottom list
- uses 30 words correctly
- creative and neat
- completed on time
1. Creative Writing
Write a short creative writing piece. Write a poem, fictional piece, skit, etc. (Your piece must make sense and be at least 1 paragraph.) Place a blank where the word should go; make sure the student completing the assignment has enough context clues to figure out what the word is.
2. Word Imagery
Write a sentence plus draw a visual representation of your sentence. Again, leave a blank where the word should be.
3. Crossword Puzzle
Create a proper crossword puzzle with clues using the vocabulary words.
4. Fill in the Blanks
Create a Mad Libs-like worksheet where you write a story but leave blanks + part of speech where these words should go.
5. Word Unscramble
Scramble a word and give a clue. Leave a blank for the word.
