It has been an eventful year filled with reading responses, picture books, trips, tests, argument essays, poetry, the drama of Shakespeare, and sometimes the drama of disappointing grades and troublesome transgressions. Most importantly, it has been a year of many triumphs.
812 - several times throughout the year, you have come together and made a positive impact. You raised several hundred dollars for Pennies for Patients, collected food for City Harvest. Recently, you worked together to perform Romeo and Juliet with great enthusiasm. General moments that stand out: Theo G and Ella as Romeo and Juliet; Peter, Sam, Theo R, Dylan, Liam, Maddie, Maya, Filip, Malcolm, Khalia, Joshua, Alessandro,and Audri's performances in the play; Maddie and Zyeonrey's outstanding participation in discussions on Romeo and Juliet; Chloe, Lorenzo, Bria, Maya, Fransheska, Alessandro, Delia, Theo G, Kaitlyn, and Summer's lovely poetry; Kaitlyn, Summer, Delia, Brandon, Mark, Bria, and Jaden who have read several thousands of pages this year and who really read during Project REAL; seeing all of you read to elementary school children, especially Jaden and his group who had the most difficult students; Theo and Malcolm's picture books were particularly good; Kaitlyn, Cassi, Bria, Liam, Alessandro, and Summer wrote exceptional reading responses; Dylan and Zalina's consistent participation always made class more interesting; Diego's presentations were in general pretty entertaining and his brotherhood with Theo pretty endearing; Bria for getting a 100 average this semester; Delia who brought up her grade 50 points!; Taylor for also bringing up her average every semester; Said who matured and stopped talking non-stop; Laura and Mark who were dedicated, hard-working distributors all year long; Z and Ella for being mayors and Derek for being an unofficial vice mayor.
Hopefully my rigor and high expectations have made a positive and lasting impression on you and that you will continue to hear me telling you to be quiet during announcements and stand, salute, and pledge. And of course, read, read, read...
