How to Comment Thoughtfully and Respectfully

Creating a Respectful and Inspiring Reading and Writing Community - One of the benefits of the blog is being able to read and respond to one another. We will be regularly commenting on each other’s posts. Follow these guidelines:

  • write 2-4 sentences using academic language
  • what to include in your comment - here are some choices:
    • make connections - what does the writer make you think, feel, or know?
    • agree/disagree with the writer's perspective or interpretation and explain why
    • offer suggestions for reading - what texts have you read that relate to the response?
    • ask questions for further discussion
    • identify impressive writing techniques and offer alternative ideas for writing
