Reading Marathon to Raise Money for Pennies for Patients

Student:_________________________________  Class: ___________
8th Grade Reading Marathon to Raise Money for Pennies for Patients
Start Date: Friday March 15, 2013             End Date: Tuesday April 2
To help raise money for patients with leukemia and lymphoma, we are urging you to support our students in an exciting reading marathon! This has a myriad of benefits:
·         Reading will help prepare students for the ELA Statewide Test on April 16-18
·         Reading will make them smarter and help prepare them for high school, especially if they read challenging books
·         Reading is a requirement of ELA and is part of their weekly homework
·         Raising money for reading will ultimately help people in need (see school website for details)!
How it works:
·         For every 50 pages read, pledge at least $1. Students read anywhere from 300-2000 pages in a month.
·         Student must keep a daily log to show what and how many pages they are reading (required homework).
·         Donations due in school on Thursday April 4.
